The ‘stuff I’m enjoying’ weekly newsletter (25 March, 2021)

Hi! So I decided to start a weekly newsletter which is a super-quick round up of three or four things I’ve been exploring/enjoying/thinking about regarding mental health and general wellbeing each week, in order to share some end-of-week inspiration and thought-provoking stuff with all of you. This is a way of bringing together things I’ve found inspiring/interesting and hopefully at least one or two of them will resonate with you as well. I’m keeping this very simple and straightforward, so that you can get in and out of this email within just a minute or two.

I’d love to hear what you think, so drop me a comment and let me know if you’d like to see more of this going forward. Have a great weekend!

Here are three things I’ve been enjoying/exploring this week:

1. Productivity burnout (and some ideas of how to tackle it)

As a content creator, I’ve recently discovered Ali Abdaal’s channel on YouTube and I really enjoy his approach to productivity and sharing his own journey as a learner (and with over 1.5 million subscribers, clearly I’m not the only one!). I was procrastinating about writing an episode as I’d had a difficult day and wasn’t feeling it, and this video was a timely reminder to be kinder to myself when that type of thing happens.

2. Simple daily reminders by @moments.of.motivation [via Instagram]

Sofia Alsindy does great infographics on her @moments.of.motivation account and while I love this image (below), it was the caption that grabbed my attention on a challenging day:

You will not always wake up in the morning and feel happy, patient and courageous. You might feel worn-out and ready to give up. But you can still choose to welcome those thoughts and overcome them by waiting for better days to come, because they are always heading your way.

3. Adult tantrums (food for thought from @nedratawwab) [via Instagram]

Like I said, I had a bit of a challenging day and I’m not going to lie – there was a definitely a moment or two where I had to simmer down before going into tantrum mode because I was pissed off. Funnily enough this recent post had been in my mind because crankiness is something I’m working hard on, so it’s been something that helped me to stop and be aware of what I was feeling… now I just have to do the work to manage the emotional reaction that drives the desire to crack the shits when I’m annoyed/frustrated/angry/etc. (that might take a while!). Find Nedra on Instagram and by the way her new book just hit #3 on the New York Times bestseller list for how-to books which is amazing (it’s loaded on my Kindle and ready to read this weekend).

That’s it! I hope you have a fantastic day and an excellent weekend. If you haven’t already, check out the latest episode of the podcast and YouTube show, links below. Take care and talk soon!

  1. Like yourself I don’t read a huge amount of emails… I even went through the unsubscribe thing from the podcast a week or so ago. Great little newsletter πŸ‘πŸ»

    1. Thanks Harry! I was trying to figure out how to share stuff I was enjoying without clogging up inboxes or making too much extra work for myself, so glad to hear you liked it. And very glad to hear you tried the Unroll.Me thing, I love it! Enjoy your day/weekend πŸ˜ƒ
