The ‘stuff I’m enjoying’ weekly newsletter (15 April, 2021)

I’m back again with a few things I’ve been exploring/enjoying/thinking about regarding mental health and general wellbeing this week, in order to share some end-of-week inspiration and thought-provoking stuff with all of you β€” this should only take 2-3 minutes to read (maximum), and I hope you find at least one or two of these inspiring/interesting.

Here are three things I’ve been enjoying/exploring this week:

1. Book – How to Eat Better (by James Wong)

I watched a couple of series by UK botanist James a few years ago and purchased his book on my iPad (via Apple Books) but I’ll be honest and say I forgot I had it. Recently I’ve been going back through my Apple Books and Kindle accounts and discovering stuff I had forgotten I purchased, and actually reading it. This I love because it explains how to get the most nutrition out of day-to-day cooking (for example, cooked broccoli has fewer nutrients than raw but adding a bit of mustard triggers a chemical reaction that makes it as good as raw!). Not sure if it’s still in print but should be available as an eBook or second-hand if not.

2. Simple reminder about perspective by @CrazyPolymath [via @tinybuddha on Instagram]

Sometimes you just need to look at things from a different perspective.

3. Conflict and self-awareness (from Meggan Roxanne via @thegoodquote.co) [via Instagram]

Sometimes we forget that conflict is a choice and if we’re making choices that aren’t healthy for us, that’s something we can choose to change.

  1. Hello Jeremy, I want to thank you so much for your podcast. I found it last weekend on spotify looking for “Letting go” in the search bar.I was going for a hike and turned on “let’s Talk About Mental Health” and was hooked! Since then I have listened pretty much non-stop (exaggeration)to episode after episode. I have also told other people about how wonderful and refreshing you are.
    I’m trying to take your advice on the morning practice but don’t remember which episodeI heard it so this is perfect, Also setting intentions for the day. I could go on and on but I think you get the gist. Thank you!
    Oh, in hearing part of your story about your mother I am left wondering, what was it that saw you through back then to become a teacher and healer to others? I too have a story of pain and hurt from my childhood that led to many misguided experiences for sure that I am still trying to recover, heal and/or atone for! I look back and there are gems as well. Take care.

Thanks for your message, I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying the podcast and finding it helpful πŸ™‚ As for what led me to this and following from the childhood stuff… I don’t fully know, but it definitely felt like a strong pull in this direction and just seemed to make sense (I love writing and public speaking, and it just felt like what I was **meant** to do – I think we all have lots of things we can do but some are a better fit than others). Hope that makes sense! You take care as well… and yes, audiobooks absolutely count! πŸ™‚
