Thursday Thoughts: a weekly LTAMH newsletter (29 April, 2021)

Hello! How is it almost the end of April? No complaints though because that means… LESS THAN A MONTH UNTIL EUROVISION!!! For the uninitiated, my love of Eurovision is surpassed only by my love for Drag Race (see below) and the Spice Girls. I am a man of simple pleasures and I make no excuses or apologies for it.

Anyway before I start today, I am very excited/nervous/possibly confused that I’m now just two days away from the launch of my second YouTube channel where I’ll be sharing No-Nonsense Advice for Living on a range of topics every week starting this Saturday. There’s a new trailer below and, well, let’s just say that I think you’re in for a treat (if you consider my puns and bad jokes to be a ‘treat’). If you like it then please click on the round subscribe link at the end of the video (and turn on notifications). Thanks!

P.S.: You’ll see more of a split going forward between my Let’s Talk About Mental Health work and my more general work like these No-Nonsense Advice for Living videos. So now that I’ve shared that, here are three things I’m enjoying/excited about this week:

1. Book — How Y’all Doing?: Misadventures and Mischief from a Life Well Lived by Leslie Jordan

When I say that Leslie Jordan’s videos last year on Instagram are one of the main things that got me through the pandemic, I am one of many who became addicted to his raw and quirky humour (and for months I’d be saying ‘well, shit…’ or ‘how y’all doin’?’). I’ve loved him in multiple roles (especially Beverly Leslie in Will & Grace) and this new-release book is sitting on my Kindle ready to entertain me this weekend. Can’t wait!

2. TV — RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under

Most, if not all, of you would be well aware of my Drag Race obsession (did you know I’ve actually been watching since Season 1, Episode 1 — and yes I was obsessed from the start!). Well, even though Season 13 of the main show has just finished (spoiler alert: hooray for Symone! She was my favourite from the start!) we are now spoiled because we’re going straight into something I never imagined would actually happen… RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under! And it’s actually hosted by RuPaul and Michelle Visage! So if you’re wondering what I’m doing Saturday afternoon (Australian time), I’ll definitely be watching this (and probably re-watching it immediately if I’m completely honest).

3. Social media — The truth about getting started… by @lizandmollie [via Instagram]

Hand-drawn thought-provoking art? This is what I love about Instagram — creative people finding ways to spread positive and uplifting messages. I highly recommend Liz and Mollie’s account for a regular dose of inspiration. And this one is an always-relevant reminder for all of us…

That’s it! I hope you have a fantastic day and an excellent weekend. If you haven’t already, check out the latest episode of the podcast and YouTube show, links below. Take care and talk soon!

Jeremy 🙂
