I am writing this while sitting out in my backyard (I’d call it a ‘garden’ but it’s more of a hot mess that requires some major work following a very wet and dreary winter), and it’s a lovely sunny day which is making me feel better about the fact that I’m so tired I nearly forgot about this newsletter (seriously; I’m writing it at 2:15pm and it goes out at 5:45pm…!). Maybe it’s being in the 4th week of lockdown, maybe it’s a side effect of my second Pfizer vaccination from yesterday (although I feel much better than I did after my first one, and I’m very grateful to now be fully vaccinated)… whatever it is, I’m a bit tired and very much in need of a quiet evening.
It’s probably because I’ve been flat out this week balancing content creation with client appointments, and I’ve also been a busy individual as I’ve been rebranding my YouTube channel to Better Mental Health. Why? Because I needed to make it much clearer that it’s different to the podcast, and I want to make it as obvious as possible to new YouTube viewers so they know what they can expect from me… plus the show does exactly what it says on the tin, by offering advice for better mental health (I’m nothing if not completely literal). Check out my latest video below and if you haven’t already, subscribe to my YouTube channel for lots of great weekly content (the stuff I post there is completely different to my podcast, so if you’re not subscribed then you’re missing out!).
And speaking of subscribing… if you subscribe to my YouTube channel and follow both of my accounts on Instagram before September 24, 2021 you’ll be in the running for my #LTAMH100 giveaway! It’s just 31 days until I release my 100th episode (wow! 😬) so I’m giving four people from anywhere in the world one classic book about mindset each plus a handwritten thank you card from me, all sent to you in the mail. Winners will receive one of the following books (yes, brand new):
- The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
- The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
- The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama
- Man’s Search for Meaning by Dr Viktor Frankl
To me these are four of the most powerful books I have ever read, and so I wanted to share something that felt meaningful to me as part of this celebration. All you need to do is:
- Like this post
- Follow me on Instagram at @ltamentalhealth and @jeremygodwinofficial
- Subscribe to the Better Mental Health YouTube channel
- Go to your Instagram account and post a story showing screenshots that you follow both of my IG accounts listed above and the LTAMH channel on YouTube, and tag @ltamentalhealth before end of day on September 24, 2021
That’s it! I’ve seen quite a few entries already since announcing it last week on my Instagram, so join the celebrations and good luck! You can click here to read the full details (and rules) of the giveaway. (Please note: no DMs or emails asking me to win as it will result in immediate disqualification… sorry but I’ve learned that lesson the hard way!)
So with all that covered… here’s a quick snapshot of my favourite things this week — hopefully at least one will make you smile/smirk/feel inspired. Have a fantastic week and a brilliant weekend!
My favourite things this week:
1. Social media — Self respect… from @tinybuddhaofficial [via Instagram]
I love the synchronicity of things: my next episode (out on Sunday) will be about self respect, and this popped up into my feed a few days ago (at least I think it was that recent; I currently have no concept of time). In short: you have to be a priority to yourself because you won’t always be to others. I mean, ouch, but also true. Very, very true.
2. Social media — Your past self is so proud of you... from @thrive [via Instagram]
It has (surprisingly!) been a few weeks since I shared something from Thrive Global… and this post today puts an end to that! There is indeed a past version of you that is so proud of how far you have come, and remember that you are now doing things that the past you would have only dreamed about; I’m pretty sure my past self would be so proud of the fact that my podcast is just about to hit 500,000 plays (it’s sitting at 498.6k at the moment so will tip over to 500k sometime in the next 24-36 hours and I am EXCITED!). Small steps today lead to massive results tomorrow!
3. Social media — Worry will not eliminate challenges... from @thrive [via Instagram]
Oh, you thought I was going to leave it at one Thrive post? Wrong! Well, technically correct since this is actually a repost from @fleurdelissspeaks (link in the post caption, and I love her account too by the way)… worrying about the week ahead (or day, or month, or year or whatever) doesn’t change anything other than to rob you of your happiness, so focus on things one day at a time. Which is basically the main message of the latest episode of the podcast, Let’s Talk About… Worry, so there’s that if you’d like more on dealing with worry!
And one bonus good news story I’d like to share… this was reposted on @greatbritish.memes about someone who has managed to face multiple setbacks and challenges in life and yet has now completed on her own home… properly inspiring and as someone who grew up in a really (really) poor home and dealt with a number of setbacks along the way, I know firsthand the pride that comes with being able to rise above your circumstances and make this sort of meaningful progress. Congratulations Muddy Puddle (love that username)!
Tip of the week for better mental health:
Be gentle with yourself if you’re tired. If that means you write two or three sentences instead of many, so be it. Quality over quantity in all things!
Quote of the week:

My content this week:
Thanks for reading and have an absolutely fantastic week! JG 🙂
