It is the second half of September… hooray! September is one of my favourite months since the days are slowly growing longer and the weather is gently improving as Spring begins to pick up pace (although let’s not get too carried away; I was still scraping ice off my car window this morning so there’s still some way to go!).
In the interest of keeping this opener simple (since the last few have been long and detailed), let me simply say I hope wherever you are in the world that you’re enjoying the change of seasons, either into autumn/fall or into spring… it’s a lovely reminder of the cycles and a way to remember that nothing lasts forever (which is especially helpful to remember if you find yourself having a tough day!).
So with that covered… here’s a quick snapshot of my favourite things this week — hopefully at least one will make you smile/smirk/feel inspired. Have a fantastic week and a brilliant weekend!
PS: Entries close for my #LTAMH100 giveaway on September 24, good luck to everyone who has entered so far! For rules click here.
My favourite things this week:
1. Social media — Take a break… from @lizandmollie [via Instagram]
Why do we so often wait until our energy levels are completely depleted before we finally take a break? This simple little cartoon reminds us not to wait until our fuel runs out before we top up our tank with rest and relaxation… a simple reminder to make time for self care every single day because your car will not run on an empty tank and neither will you!
2. Social media — 3 routines to reconsider... from @calm [via Instagram]
I’m a big fan of routine, so much so that I get up at the same time and go to bed at the same time seven nights a week now (and it has had a massive positive impact on my sense of wellbeing). This carousel post from @calm encourages you to have set morning routines, work routines and evening routines that prioritise your overall health and wellbeing, which sounds good to me!
3. Social media — Emotions... from @attndotcom [via Instagram]
Emotions are not facts, but as I said in a recent video on my YouTube channel they shouldn’t be ignored either; it’s about balancing our emotions with our rational thoughts because balance is everything! I loved this post which was regrammed on @attndotcom because it shows that life is not just ‘happy’ or ‘sad’ but hundreds and thousands of different emotions in between, and very often we have lots of them in the same day… and that’s OK!
And one bonus bit of inspiration I’d like to share from the wonderful @lucialitman: focus on what matters.
Tip of the week for better mental health:
Dream. Dreams help us to envision a brighter future and they inspire us to take action here in the present. You can work towards creating the future that you want while still being fully present in the here and now: learn from the past, hope for the future, and live in the present.
Quote of the week:
