I’ve been re-jigging my calendar these past few weeks to ensure that I have ample time to do the work I need to do, in terms of both my content creation and client work, and so far it’s been working so well that I have actually had a lunch break every single day since returning from my break on the 6th of January. That one simple action, so easy to overlook when working from home/working for yourself, makes a world of difference and I have found myself feeling calmer and more creative as a result.
One of the ways I have been able to channel that creativity has been in doing some creative work outside of the scope of just mental health. I mentioned the other week that I’m doing daily Life Advice That Doesn’t Suck posts on my @jeremygodwinofficial Instagram account, and last week over on LinkedIn I published an article called Dear Managers and Senior Leaders: THIS is why your people are leaving (short version: stop treating your employees like numbers and start treating them like human beings).
I am someone who has a lot of ideas, and my head can be like a creative whirlwind sometimes, so I am grateful that my wonderful coach, Amy, has been helping me to get back to the heart of why I choose to do the things I do and what they mean to me first and foremost, then going from there. That has meant cutting back my focus to the bare minimum, and I highly recommend a back-to-basics approach to anyone who might be feeling a bit overwhelmed.
So… greetings and salutations, and a very warm welcome to another newsletter. I hope you enjoy my quick snapshot of my favourite things this week — hopefully at least one of them will make you smile/feel inspired. Have a fantastic week!
PS: I am determined to keep my work ad-free, because that feels like the right thing for me, however it costs money to do what I do. I would love it if you would become a supporter on Patreon; for $3 AUD per month you’ll get a shout-out in the weekly transcript for each podcast episode, or for $8 AUD a month you’ll get that plus an exclusive monthly video in which I share what is coming up on the podcast and YouTube channel for the next month… and you can submit your questions about mental health and my work which I will answer in the video. If you’d like to become a supporter then click here and I will be eternally grateful! Thank you 🙂
