Thursday Thoughts: the Let’s Talk About Mental Health newsletter (10 March, 2022)

Hello Talkers!

I said last week that I’ve been finding it exhausting lately, in emotional terms, with everything going on, and it turns out I’m not the only one. I had a conversation with someone last night about the kind of guilt that kicks in when we admit that out loud, usually followed by the phrase “but others have it so much worse than me”… and yes, they do, however that doesn’t make your feelings invalid. Regardless of where you are in the world and what your circumstances are, this constant level of heightened anxiety is exhausting and it doesn’t help that we’re expected to just get on with our lives as though nothing is happening.

So I’m going to repeat the advice I gave last week: focus on what is within your control, and make your voice heard. And I’m going to add to that to take things one day at a time, because that is all we can do.

And remember: all storms eventually pass.

So without any further ado… greetings and salutations, and a very warm welcome to another newsletter. I hope you enjoy my quick snapshot of my favourite things this week — hopefully at least one of them will make you smile/feel inspired. Have a fantastic week!
