I’m probably supposed to write something insightful about mental health, however all I can think about this week is Eurovision because it’s less than a week until Semi Final 1! But as I’ve said many times before, Eurovision has a lot to teach us about better mental health (and I even made a video about my thoughts on that last year) because it’s about embracing diversity and celebrating the many different ways that people connect through music.
I’ve been thinking a lot about that music thing lately, in no small part due to the fact that I’m doing some creative writing in my spare time which just happens to be set in the late 90’s and so I’ve been spending a lot of time re-listening to my favourite pop classics from around that time… and, as Madonna quite rightly said, music makes the people come together.
Music can change our mood and it can instantly transport us back to a moment in time. So, if you feel like sharing, leave me a comment and tell me about a song that takes you back; a big one for me is Joyride by Roxette, because they were the first band I saw live at a proper concert venue (the first I ever saw was Technotronic, but that was at a theme park called Australia’s Wonderland so it wasn’t quite the same as going to the Sydney Entertainment Centre to see Roxette!).
So without any further ado… greetings and salutations, and a very warm welcome to another newsletter. I hope you enjoy my quick snapshot of my favourite things this week — hopefully at least one of them will make you smile/feel inspired. Have a fantastic week!
