Thursday Thoughts: the Let’s Talk About Mental Health newsletter (4 August, 2022)

Hello Talkers!

Taking even just a couple of days off can really help to give your brain time to rest and re-energise, which is often when you come up with new ideas and/or see new opportunities. Case in point: several days into my own ‘go-slow’ over the past two weeks (where I’ve only been doing the podcast and not any of my video content), I had a bit of an ‘a-ha!’ moment about my weekly YouTube videos that has led me to make some changes.

So… starting this week, I’ll be posting YouTube videos every Sunday (commencing August 7) at the same time as the podcast and the video will cover the same topic as the podcast. Why? Because, quite frankly, YouTube audiences and podcast audiences are two very different audiences and not many people do both (I myself don’t really listen to podcasts, but I watch a lot of YouTube) and so by releasing content on two different topics each week I was effectively doubling my workload unnecessarily when most people would be unlikely to consume both the video and the podcast. So, my weekly video will now be a more how-to focused condensed version of the podcast; if you are one of the people who like both formats, you’ll find the new videos to be a great recap of all the key points from the podcast episodes to help you put it into practice immediately.

Not only does this post make a great point, it also made me laugh because I had just had a discussion with my therapist about this very subject and then later that evening this popped up into my feed. Don’t ever tell me the universe doesn’t have a sense of humour!

  1. It is great idea and right thing to do – to make your youtube related to podcast. I usually only watch YT, but few months ago got hooked up on your podcast – this will be useful to recap main points for me (and take notes) 🙂
